Comix NY Announces Upcoming Shows for May

 

Comix NY has released new dates for performances including: Donald Glover (rebooked from previous date) of NBC's "Community" on May 21-22; Actor, author & comedian Jay Mohr on May 11; Anjelah Johnson ("Bon Qui Qui" of MAD TV) on May 7-8; and Greg Giraldo on May 13.

ANJELAH JOHNSON 

MAY 7th & 8th @ 8:00PM & 10:30PM

Anjelah started out as a professional cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders, and moved into acting in shows like The Shield and Love Inc, all while honing her skills as a standup.  After the success of "Nail Salon", Anjelah joined the cast of MADtv, and her character "Bon Qui Qui at King Burger" became her second viral video sensation before the show was canceled, earning her a 2008 ALMA Award nomination for "Outstanding Female Performance in a Comedy Television Series." 

Tickets are $20 until 5/3 and $25 afterward, plus a two drink minimum purchase in the showroom.

JAY MOHR – Show & Meet & Greet

May 11th @ 9PM

Jay first caught America's attention with his dead-on impression of Christopher Walken on Saturday Night Live.  He went on to have scene-stealing roles in movies like Jerry Maguire, Suicide Kings, and Go, all while performing standup throughout the country.  His standup background was part of what led him to executive produce and host the wildly popular Last Comic Standing, a show that's on its seventh season.  All this plus his roles on TV shows like Ghost Whisperer and Gary Unmarried.  Jay is performing to promote his brand new memoir about modern parenthood, No Wonder My Parents Drank.  Jay will be signing copies of his newest book after the show at Comix.

Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 day of show, plus a two drink minimum purchase in the showroom.

GREG GIRALDO

Greg is also well known from his stint as a regular panelist on Comedy Central's Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. In addition to his two half hour stand-up specials on Comedy Central, Greg also has performed on Late Show with David Letterman (CBS), and he has been a guest on Late Night with Conan O' Brien (NBC) a dozen times. His most recent album, Midlife Vices, was released in 2009 along with a new Comedy Central special, and was well-loved in the comedy world.  Don't miss your chance to see this genius live!

DONALD GLOVER

May 21st & 22nd @ 8pm & 10:30pm

Donald Glover of the NBC show Community is one of the fastest-rising stars of standup and television around. He got his start when he was plucked out of his college dorm to write for the TV show 30 Rock, which he did while juggling class work and his sketch comedy group Derrick.  Derrick wrote and filmed its own movie, Mystery Team, which was picked up for distribution. In 2009, after appearing on Comedy Central's Live at Gotham, Donald was cast as ex-football star Troy in the hit NBC show Community, and then filmed his own Comedy Central Presents, which aired in March of 2010.
