Comedy Duo Amy Nic & Lulu Simons Will Bring WORK IN PROGRESS (AND OTHER LIES) to Parr Hall
The Warrington double bill features rising northwest comics fresh from the West End and Women In Comedy Festival
A double-bill featuring two rising comics from the north west is coming to Parr Hall's stage later this month. Amy Nic and Lulu Simons will present the special one-off ‘Work In Progress (And Other Lies)' in Warrington on Wednesday, 27 May.
The night of stand-up will combine tales of caravan park parties and Spice Girls mania as the pair test out new material.
You may have spotted Great Sankey resident Amy on your Instagram feed recently, where she's been going viral with her uncanny impressions of Sort Your Life Out star Stacey Solomon and Shirley Ballas.
Amy's impressions even led to a surreal experience on BBC Radio 2 where she impersonated Shirley live on the air in front of the Strictly judge herself!
The former Penketh High and Priestley College student has also just finished a successful run as ‘Female MC' in Magic Mike Live in the West End, which followed her sold out her show, One Week In Magaluf, at Edinburgh Fringe.
This time around, Amy is bringing ‘School Disco Party Bags' to her hometown – inspired by the season she spent as an entertainer at a caravan park.
Think Macarena, Oops Upside Ya Head, Superman and many other retro, feel-good songs with matching dance moves.
Amy said: “Of course it's based on true stories! Writing this show has been a real trip down memory lane.
“Alongside some rogue tales from North Wales, they'll be some of my fan-favourite impressions and a hefty amount of party dances for you to join in with!”
Amy will be sharing the stage with award-winning comic Lulu Simons (Best New Act, Women In Comedy Festival).
Fresh from her previous one-woman shows and known for storytelling that comes straight from the heart, Lulu is now asking the important questions like when did we stop spicing up our lives?
A semi-finalist at both Funny Women Awards and Frog and Bucket World Series, Lulu is debuting her new show ‘Zig-Ah-Zig-Ah' – an exploration of modern womanhood through the ultimate 90s philosophers: Scary, Sporty, Ginger, Posh and Baby!
A spokesperson for Culture Warrington, the arts charity that runs Parr Hall, added: “Come and see Amy and Lu at this intimate performance right on their doorstep before they become the next big thing.
“Both of these performers have been big supporters of what we do here at Culture Warrington so it's been a pleasure to get behind them with this new venture.
“Amy and Lu complement each other perfectly – bringing a joyful, nostalgic style of comedy to the stage that they like to call ‘part stand-up, part disco, part pop gig'.
“And they can both confirm, actual party bags will be handed out to the best audience members!”
