Collaboraction to Present COLLABORAOKE: REAL BAND KARAOKE Round 2
Meagan McNeal of Lyric Opera's Safronia and Sandra Delgado will judge the Chicago event.
Chicago karaoke fans, sign up now for Collaboraoke: Real Band Karaoke - Round 2 on Thursday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m., the second in a fun and interactive monthly series at Collaboraction Theatre's new House of Belonging, now open in the Kimball Arts Center, 1757 N. Kimball Ave. in Humboldt Park.
Don't miss this chance to show off your karaoke skills, but this time, backed by a live band! Chicago's own Ocean and the Waves, led by Sam Ocean, is ready to rock your vocals with a 200-song repertoire of karaoke classics.
See the full song list, start practicing your favorites, and purchase tickets for Collaboraoke Round 2 at collaboraction.org. All seats are $25, and include one drink ticket at Collaboraction's new bar and cafe. Proceeds support The Light, Collaboraction's youth program.
Judges for Collaboraoke Round 2 are singer-songwriter Meagan McNeal, who just sang the title role in Lyric Opera's Safronia and was a contestant on NBC's The Voice, and writer, actor, singer and Collaboraction Company Member Sandra Delgado.
Both will offer professional feedback to each contestant as part of the show, American Idol-style, but always with love. Collaboraoke is hosted by Anthony Moseley, Collaboraction Artistic Director and crooner extraordinaire.
Collaboraoke: Real Band Karaoke kicked off with its first qualifying round on April 24, which yielded three semifinalists: Bella Cassel, Rachel Maloney and Destiny Strothers. Following Round 2 on May 28, there's one more chance to compete in the final preliminary round on Thursday, June 25. Winners from all three preliminary rounds will move on to compete again in the Collaboraoke: Real Band Karaoke Championship on Thursday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Collaboraction's new home in the Kimball Arts Center, 1757 N. Kimball Ave in Humboldt Park, is a sleek, 4,000-square foot space featuring a new 99-seat flexible studio theater and a 50-seat cabaret with cafe and bar. Free and nearby street parking is available. For CTA riders, the 82 Kimball-Homan bus stops right in front of the building. The theater is also a short walk from the Kimball stop on the 72 North and 73 Armitage bus lines. For bikers and pedestrians, the Kimball trailhead on The 606 leads directly to the Kimball Arts Center.
