The Light in the Piazza in "Piazza Party" at Birdland on Monday, June 5 at 7pm. This concert kicks off "Summer In The City at Birdland," a series of 7pm events featuring top Broadway stars, cabaret performers and songwriters at the legendary club (315 West 44th Street).

Piazza won six 2005 Tony Awards - for Best Score, Best Actress in a Musical, Best Sets, Costumes, Lighting and Orchestrations - plus five 5 Drama Desk Awards and two Outer Critics Circle Awards. The musical, based on the novella by Elizabeth Spencer, is set in the summer of 1953 and tells the story of a mother and daughter traveling through Italy, the daughter's romance with a handsome, high-spirited Florentine, and the mother's determined efforts to keep the two apart.
