City Winery Makes Trip To Assist Puerto Rico In late January 2018, Michael Dorf, CEO & Founder of City Winery, will be hosting his annual Management Leadership Offsite called Basecamp. Along with 125 of his employees, Dorf will be making the trip to Puerto Rico to assist in rebuilding and helping those displaced and negatively impacted by Hurricane Maria. The group will spend two days in the middle of the island, working with farmers to rebuild their properties. This includes planting seeds, removing debris, and rebuilding barns, sheds, and farms.

City Winery's core values, as laid out in the management handbook, revolves around the importance promoting a culture that supports community and believes in philanthropic efforts. Basecamp provides a unique opportunity for the team to come together and share experiences; both in the moment and from the year. Dorf believes that one of the reasons City Winery continues to thrive is because his senior management team, or "base," has been with him from the start and grow not only as a team but a family. Now in the 8th year of this unique offsite, Basecamp, is something that they look forward to, each year growing in size with a base familiar faces and welcoming new ones as City Winery opens new locations across the United States.

This 2018 trip will also be one that hits close to home for the City Winery family. "Why shouldn't a business like ours, which has been so fortunate over the years, one that relies on agriculture - grapes for our wine and products for our kitchen - not become a responder to fellow American Citizens, who have been hit harder than any this horrific hurricane season?" Dorf questions.

This year, along with the help of Condado Vanderbilt Hotel's Juan Jose Cuevas, who is leading the farm to table food movement in Puerto Rico, City Winery will work to make an impactful difference. The Condado Vanderbilt Hotel is also working to revitalize available resources by working closely with farmers island-wide to reestablish agricultural production - a vital part of the island's economy.

An additional goal of the trip is to raise over $250K in advance from the City Winery community. This call to action is being done thru the City Winery community of fans and vendors. Each of his employees will share the below link to donate on their social media outlets, as well as any of their personal sentiments to receiving further donations.
