BET Networks and David Rothenberg, founder of the Fortune Society, will be honored at the Fortune Society's annual awards and benefit gala on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at The Laura Pels Theater. Tony Award Winning actress Christine Ebersole and Publisher and CEO of El Diario Rossana Rosado will serve as honorary Co-Chairs for this special evening that will bring together members of New York City's philanthropic, business and civic communities.

A special performance of "The Castle," a moving and dramatic tale of four formerly incarcerated individuals' courageous paths to rebuilding their lives, will be performed following the awards ceremony. The play was co-authored by David Rothenberg and the actors, who portray themselves.

All proceeds from the gala will benefit Fortune's wide range of services that help formerly incarcerated individuals successfully re-enter their communities. Programs include supportive housing, career development, job retention, substance abuse treatment, alternatives to incarceration, HIV/AIDS services, education, family services, and drop-in services as well as ongoing access to aftercare. The awards ceremony gala will take place at The Laura Pels Theater: 111 W. 46th Street on Monday, November 16, 2009. Wine and hors d'oeurves will be served starting at 6:00pm, with a presentation of the awards and a performance of "The Castle," a play in one-act at 7:00pm, followed by a dessert reception with the cast and the honorees at 8:30pm.
