Ars Nova and La Vie Productions present a special developmental concert UNCHARTED: Matthew Doers – Taking Step Three13, with music and lyrics by Matthew Doers. The evening takes place one night only on July 23rd, 2012, at 8 p.m. at Ars Nova, located at 511 West 54th Street, NYC.

The concert stars Chris Hall (Hedwig, Bedbugs!!!), Gina Milo (Les Miserables), Tanesha Ross (Hair, Rio), Tori Scott (Cathouse: The Musical), Eric Summers (Little Mermaid) and Jeff Tuohy (The Groove Factory).

Composer Matthew Doers is an electric new force on the cutting-edge musical theater scene. This high-octane evening features songs from his original show, TAKING STEP THREE13, an edgy, propulsive, musical retelling of Dostoevsky's classic, "Crime and Punishment". With a smoking hot band and vocal pyrotechnics to match, this evening of new musical theater promises to introduce a thrilling new voice on the block. Sonny Paladino (White Noise, Disaster) is set to music direct.

UNCHARTED: Matthew Doers is part of Ars Nova's UNCHARTED initiative to develop and present new work from emerging musical theater artists.

Matthew Doers has recently made his transition from NYC's underground rock and roll scene to the stages of NYC theater. The Public Theater's, New Work Now! showcased his most recent musical, TAKING STEP THREE13, adapted from Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" at Joe's Pub, where he was recognized as "an exciting new voice in musical theater." His most recent credits include the score for the New York premier of the play Love Minus, songs for Poking Kitty Purple and music and lyrics for Celebrate Good Times – Rockin' Macbeth He also served as resident composer for a season of youth oriented original musicals at the Hampton Playhouse. Matthew recently contributed the theme as well as music and lyrics, to HERE network's new variety show She's Living For This! starring drag artist Sherry Vine. He was also featured in Mexico City's "9th Annual International Cabaret Festival" as music director and accompanist to performance artist Joey Arias. Matthew performs and writes, with a commitment to bring exciting, vibrant musical theater to new a young new audience.
