Chris Botti Set for 9th Annual Holiday Residency at the Blue Note, Now thru 1/19

Blue Note Jazz Club, the iconic Greenwich Village jazz and blues venue that offers live musical performances every night of the week, announces new show additions through February 2014.

HIGHLIGHT FEATURES- each performer is scheduled for two shows per night, 8:00 pm and 10:30 pm, unless otherwise noted.

• Celebrated jazz quartet Fourplay will perform at Blue Note from December 10th through the 15th, featuring pianist Bob James, guitarist Chuck Loeb, bassist Nathan East and drummer Harvey Mason. For two decades, the contemporary jazz quartet known as Fourplay has enjoyed consistent artistic and commercial success by grafting elements of R&B, pop and a variety of other sounds to their unwavering jazz foundations. In the course of a dozen recordings - six of which have climbed to the top of Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Album charts - the supergroup has continued to explore the limitless dimensions and permutations of jazz while at the same time appealing to a broad mainstream audience. Tickets are $30 at the bar, $45 for table reservations December 10-12 and December 15th; $35 at the bar and $55 for table reservations on December 13th and 14th.
• The Blue Note proudly welcomes back Chris Botti for his 9th holiday residency, beginning on December 16th and running through January 5th. Since the release of his 2004 critically acclaimed CD When I Fall In Love, Chris Botti has become the largest-selling American instrumental artist. His success has crossed over to audiences usually reserved for pop music and his ongoing association with PBS has led to four #1 jazz albums, as well as multiple Gold, Platinum and Grammy Awards. Most recently, his latest album Impressions won the GRAMMY for Best Pop Instrumental Album at this year's 55th GRAMMY Awards. Over the past three decades, Botti has recorded and performed with the best in music, including Sting, Barbra Streisand, Josh Groban, Yo-Yo Ma, Michael Bublé, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, John Mayer, Andrea Bocelli, Joshua Bell, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and even Frank Sinatra. Impressions, Botti's 2012 Columbia Records and Grammy winning release, is the latest in a stellar parade of albums - including When I Fall In Love (2004), To Love Again: The Duets (2005), Italia (2007), and the CD/DVD Chris Botti in Boston (2009) - that has firmly established him as a clarion voice in the American contemporary music scene. Tickets are $40 at the bar, $75 for table reservations. Bring in 2014 the right way at Blue Note Jazz Club! Special New Year's Eve prices are offered, with a limited amount of tickets. Price includes a champagne toast, hats and noisemakers, an a la carte menu will be available and seeing will be first come first seated.
• Spin Doctors drummer Aaron Comess will make his first Late Night Groove Series appearance at Blue Note on December 27th. To date, drummer Aaron Comess, a founding member of the GRAMMY nominated, ten million plus album selling band Spin Doctors, has played on, written on and/or produced over two hundred albums with an acclaimed and diverse roster of artists such as, Joan Osborne, Bilal, Rachael Yamagata, New York Electric Piano, Isaac Hayes, James Maddock, Marc Cohn and Chris Whitley to name a few. Doors open at midnight, and the show starts at 12:30AM. Tickets are $15.
• Rebirth Brass Band will take the stage at Blue Note from January 7 - January 10. The Rebirth Band is a New Orleans institution. The band was formed in 1983 by the now infamous Frazier brothers. The band has evolved from playing in the streets of the French Quarter to playing at festivals and on stages all over the world. Rebirth is committed to upholding the tradition of brass bands, while incorporating modern music into their show. Their signature brand of brass funk is a favorite to many music lovers around the world, in addition in a post-Katrina world, their name and music have become the soundtrack to their musically rich hometown.
• On January 11th and 12th, world-renowned jazz guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli will perform with special guest Jane Monheit, bringing two compelling industry greats together on one stage. John has performed on the country's most popular national television shows such as "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Late Show with David Letterman," "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," "The Conan Show," "Live With Regis & Kelly," "The Tony Danza Show," "The CBS Early Show," Fox News Channel, the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The GRAMMY nominated artist has established himself as one of the prime interpreters of the Great American Songbook and beyond, bringing his work to his work the cool jazz flavor of his brilliant guitar playing and singing. This special appearance teams up the John Pizzarelli Quartet with celebrated GRAMMY nominated songstress Jane Monheit, who has collaborated with artists such as Michael Bublé, Ivan Lins, Terence Blanchard and Tom Harrell. Tickets are $20 at the bar, $35 for table reservations.
• Award-winning artist Monty Alexander will present Jazz Meets Reggae, a new series at Blue Note Jazz Club, from January 21st -26th, with a preview show on January 13th. In a career spanning five decades, pianist Monty Alexander has built a reputation exploring and bridging the worlds of American jazz, popular song, and the music of his native Jamaica, finding in each a sincere spirit of musical expression. The Jazz Meets Reggae series will begin with a preview double-feature on January 13th, joining the Monty Alexander Harlem-Kingston Express with Caterina Zapponi, the Pizzarellis, and Frank Vignola. Monty returns with Caterina Zapponi, the Pizzarellis and Frank Vignola on Tuesday, January 21st to kick off a week-long lineup that continues with John Clayton and Jeff Hamilton from January 22nd - 24th. The program will commence with a celebration of Jamaican music when Ernest Ranglin & Chronixx join Monty on January 25th and 26th. Tickets are $20 at the bar, $35 for table reservations.
• Christian Scott at Blue Note this January, from the 16th through the 19th. Edison Award winning trumpeter-composer-producer-bandleader Christian Scott stands tall among a handful of talented young jazz artists who are expanding their artistic vision beyond the strict confines of the genre's tradition. Throughout his career, Scott has been an intrepid explorer, from his GRAMMY nominated debut 'Rewind That," to his genre stretching last album Yesterday You Said TomorroW. Scott ups the ante on his compelling new double album, Christian aTunde Adjuah, an inspired and provocative two-CD, 23-track collection that spans a range of beyond-jazz influences as he continues to make strides into uncharted jazz territory. Tickets are $15 at the bar, $25 for table reservations.

SUNDAY BRUNCH SERIES- Sunday Brunch at Blue Note is $29.50 per person and includes a live performance, brunch and a cocktail. Each Sunday features a 12:30PM and 2:30PM seating. Please note the time change for Brunch at Blue Note, the first performance will begin at 11:30AM followed by the second performance at 1:30PM.

· GRAMMY- nominee Claudio Roditi will appear at the Blue Note for a month-long residency during the month of December. Roditi, integrates post-bop elements and Brazilian rhythmic concepts into his palette with ease as he plays on the trumpet. This versatility keeps the trumpeter in demand as a performer, recording artist and teacher. With over twenty critically acclaimed albums to his credit, Roditi continually develops his playing and compositions through new recording projects. His latest release on the Resonance label, BONS AMIGOS, features several of his original pieces, which are framed by seven compositions written by Brazilian masters such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Johnny Alf, guitarist/composer Toninho Horta and pianist Elaine Elias. A lifelong passion for the trumpet gives Roditi an open spirit for music, which fuels his ongoing search for personal expression and musical perfection.

LOOKING AHEAD- With new shows added daily, Blue Note is pleased to offer an exciting lineup of shows through 2014. A few highlights include:

· Rachelle Ferrell joins Blue Note Jazz Club for Valentine's Day shows, from February 13th-16th. Known the world over as one of jazz's finest vocalists, Rachelle Ferrell has made her mark not as a straight-ahead jazz singer and pianist, but as a crossover artist who's equally at home with urban contemporary pop, gospel, classical music and jazz. Tickets are $30 at the bar, $45 for table reservations on the 13th, 15th, and 16th. Table reservations are $55 on February 14th.
