Cherry Lane Theater announces new SOLO FEST! lead by Gretchen Cryer

By:

The Cherry Lane Theater, one of New York's leading companies dedicated to developing and producing new works for the stage, will debut a new series this fall, SOLO FEST! AT THE PIT on Monday nights at 6 p.m. from October 5 to November 23 at the 90-seat Cherry Pit theater (155 Bank St.) in Manhattan.

Under the direction of Gretchen Cryer, the actress and writer of such celebrated works as "I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking it on the Road" and the musical "The Last Sweet Days of Isaac," along with Angelina Fiordellisi, Artistic Director of Cherry Lane Theatre, SOLO FEST! AT THE PIT will highlight the often overlooked plays and performances by individual artists, specifically 10 women performers and their new works including Kathryn Grody, Betsy Parrish, Susan Laubach, Jacqueline Santiago, Elizabeth Rose, Mimi Cohen, Mary Lou Shriber, Renita Martin, Alice Barden and Nichole Thompson-Adams.

SOLO FEST! AT THE PIT falls in step with two other productions about women starting in October at Cherry Lane Theatre's venues at 38 Commerce St.: Judith Ivey portrays the legendary advice columnist in the play THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS on the mainstage, previewing Oct. 7, opening Oct. 14, and playing through Nov. 29; and Antoinette Lavecchia stars in her own solo work HOW TO BE A GOOD ITALIAN DAUGHTER previewing Oct. 3 and opening Oct. 12 in the 60-seat Studio Theatre.

The Cherry Pit is the Obie Award-winning Cherry Lane Theatre's newest performance venue, a 90-seat theatre that debuted last spring with the acclaimed production of Deidre O'Connor's play JAILBAIT.

Tickets to SOLO FEST! AT THE PIT are $10 and can be purchased (cash only) 30 minutes prior to the performance at the Cherry Pit box office or in advance by credit card by calling 212 989 2020 ext. 21 For information about Cherry Lane Theatre and its productions, visit www.cherrylanetheatre.org
