Chelsea Pines Inn Celebrates Silver Anniversary

By: Apr. 25, 2011

Chelsea Pines Inn, New York's most upscale LGBT urban guesthouse, marks a quarter century of service to the community with a series of contributions by nearly a dozen well-known New Yorkers whose lives are intertwined with the storied inn. Visit the site at ChelseaPinesInn.com/blog.

The commemorative series offers readers diverse perspectives on New York and Chelsea -- its beating gay heart -- through 25 years of evolution. It was inaugurated by Terrence McNally, winner of four Tony Awards (including one for "Master Class" which is being revived on Broadway this summer) and librettist of recently debuted Broadway musical "Catch Me If You Can". Describing the changes he's seen over the past 25 years in Chelsea and beyond, McNally declares, "Just writing those two words 'my husband' still makes my heart skip a beat and feel the world we inhabit as gay men and women has turned upside down."

Other noteworthy New Yorkers who've contributed to the blog include:

Christine C. Quinn, New York City Council Speaker
Tom Viola, Executive Director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA); and
Glennda Testone, Executive Director, The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center
"It is a great honor to have such accomplished New Yorkers relate their personal anecdotes in our blog,'" says Jay Lesiger, founding owner of the Chelsea Pines Inn. "Terrence, Tom, Glennda, and our other prominent friends have contributed enormously to the city's cultural heritage. We are delighted they have also contributed to ours."

In addition to the new blog the Chelsea Pines Inn recently put the finishing touches on the latest stage of its million-dollar renovations, including an expanded entrance level; improvements to all rooms including new furnishings and soft-goods; a new business center; and complimentary WiFi throughout the property. With warmer weather, guests from all over the world enjoy sitting in the garden, sipping their afternoon espressos from the new espresso machine.

Those whose travels include New York for Gay Pride (June 18-26) or throughout the year can take advantage of the inn's new Silver Jubilee package, with a trio of money-saving and memory-making offers:
A $25 discount on a reservation for a Deluxe or higher-category room;
A $25 gift certificate at one of three of Chelsea Pines Inn's favorite local restaurants; and

Prices for the package, valid for stays of three or more nights from now to December 29, start at $627 double occupancy, representing a savings of over $400 from regular rates.
