Cathedral of St. John the Divine Celebrates Gay Pride Week

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine announces their annual Spirit of Pride event on Monday, June 20 at 7pm, located at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue (at 112th St.). The evening of short plays, song, and performances will feature James Lecesne, Michael Feingold, Colman Domingo, Jason Butler Harner and JoAnna Howard. Short plays by Mark Schultz, Daniel Talbott, Lucy Thurber and Ken Urban focus on the persistent threat of bullying among the youth of the GLBTQ community.

James Lecesne, noted actor, filmmaker and co-founder of The Trevor Project, an organization that provides life-affirming and life-saving resources to young people, including a 24/7 suicide hotline, will serve as the keynote speaker and Michael Feingold will pay tribute to the playwright and gay activist Doric Wilson. In addition, TOSOS, the theatre company co-founded by Wilson, will present a piece from his seminal work Street Theater.

The evening will be curated by Daniel Talbott and Jack Doulin
Spirit of Pride is an annual event held by The Cathedral of St. John the Divine during Gay Pride Week that celebrates the achievement, tenacity, and spirit of New York City's LGBTQ community.
