Camp Bway Seeking Kids to Perform in Macy's Parade

Camp Broadway, the award-winning theater company that creates special Broadway-themed events, experiences and educational programs for children, teens and families, proudly announces that for the third consecutive year it will perform in the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which will be televised on NBC-TV on November 22, 2007 beginning at 9:00a.m. Once again, hundreds of talented young performers from across the country will have the opportunity to perform a special number written especially for them on the national telecast—entitled "Making Magic."

The New York auditions will be held at Ripley Grier Studios, 520 8th Avenue between 36th and 37th Streets at 10:00am on Saturday, July 7th and at New Dance Group, 305 West 38th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues, at 10:00am on Saturday, August 4th. Those auditioning need to bring 16 bars of a song to sing (an accompanist will be provided), a completed application (downloadable at ) and they should wear dance shoes, comfortable clothes and be ready to dance. The children will learn a combination by a Broadway choreographer.

Those unable to attend the auditions may submit a videotape with a completed application form for consideration by Camp Broadway's Artistic Director. All videotapes submissions must include a short dance routine and a 1-minute song. Videotapes must arrive at the Camp Broadway office by September 1, 2007 (no exceptions).

Camp Broadway, under the direction of Artistic Director Tony Parise, has been selected to perform the parade's opening number, "Making Magic," written by award-winning cabaret luminary Michael Feinstein with lyrics by Bill Schermerhorn, Macy's Creative Director. The piece celebrates kids' participation in the fantasy world of the 81st Anniversary of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The opening number will be choreographed by John Dietrich, a veteran performer and choreographer of many musicals. Camp Broadway has created a special one-week program leading up to the parade performance. This specially crafted program, featuring a series of Broadway workshops, classes and rehearsals, includes:

- Broadway dance workshops
- Costume fitting & Parade Costume
- Herald Square camera blocking rehearsal
- Nationally televised parade performance
- Commemorative t-shirt, CD recording of original song and Macy's Parade Pin
- Cast Party
