The Daily Mail reports that CONSTELLATIONS playwright Nick Payne has been tapped to adapt David Nicholls' novel US into a four-hour BBC miniseries.

The best-selling book US centers on a couple in a failing relationship who decide to travel Europe with their 17-year-old son. Douglas -- the husband -- wants to stay married, while Connie -- the wife -- wants to call it quits.

The project is in its early stages, so no word on casting yet. But BWW will keep our ears to the ground!

Payne's first play IF THERE IS I HAVEN'T FOUND IT YET premiered in London in 2009 and was staged off-Broadway in 2012 starring Jake Gyllenhaal. WANDERLUST debuted in 2010 at the Royal Court, followed by CONSTELLATIONS at the same venue in 2012. Rafe Spall and Sally Hawkins led the West End run, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Wilson onstage in New York this season. His play THE SAME DEEP WATER AS ME first played the Donmar in 2013, and BLURRED LINES hit the National the following year. Among Payne's other works are THE LOST MARINER, INTERIOR and THE ART OF DYING.
