CHAMELEON - A NEW MUSICAL to Make World Premiere at Hollywood's Hudson Theatre
Lahser Rd. Theatricals presents the blind playwright Daisy Villegas' debut musical at the Hudson MainStage.
CHAMELEON - A NEW MUSICAL, created with a book by blind playwright Daisy Villegas, will premiere this June at the Hudson Theatre MainStage in Hollywood. Presented by Lahser Rd. Theatricals in association with Dai-See Productions, performances will run June 3–7, 2026.
Set in fictional Villegas High School in Whittier, California, CHAMELEON follows Sam, a teen film actor facing mounting pressure from his director father, David, while preparing for a leading role. His life changes when fellow student Chase, who is experiencing anxiety and depression, asks Sam to pretend to be him for a week. The musical explores identity, mental health, and friendship through comedy and role reversal.
The production is directed, designed, and produced by Benny Lee Harris Lumpkins Jr. Music direction is by Edward Trimis, with executive producing by the Villegas family in association with Dai-See Productions.
Cast
The cast will feature Donnie Sarabia as Chase and Tyler Vazquez as Sam, alongside Chima Rok, Delvin Harrington, Angelina Melendez, Dan Saunders, Mari Mar Lopez, Biola Fatusin, and Brenna Baines.
Performance Schedule & Ticket Information
Performances will take place at the Hudson Theatre MainStage in Hollywood, with a press preview on June 3 at 7:30 p.m., a VIP invite performance on June 4 at 8 p.m., performances on June 5 at 7:30 p.m., June 6 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and closing performances on June 7 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. All performances run approximately 90 minutes with one intermission.
Tickets are $35 unless otherwise noted. Discounted admission includes $25 tickets for veterans with ID using code VET26, $25 tickets for seniors over 55 using code 005, $20 student tickets with ID or code 115, and discounted admission for Hollywood Fringe Festival participants with code Fringe26.
About Lahser Rd. Theatricals
Now in its seventh year, Lahser Rd. Theatricals produces original theatrical works focused on amplifying underrepresented voices, including queer, disabled, BIPOC, and emerging theatre artists. The company develops productions that explore alternatives to traditional theatrical storytelling.
Daisy Villegas, who has been blind since birth due to Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), is a Creative Writing graduate of Whittier College. In addition to CHAMELEON, Villegas also created HOW TO GRIEVE PROPERLY and continues to develop new musical theatre works focused on identity and human connection.
