Fans of the oft-reappraised cult musical CANDIDE now have the chance to peruse the complete cast recording for the 1974 revival memorably directed by Hal Prince as part of a limited time free streaming period on Spotify generously provided by Masterworks Broadway.

The official description of the 1974 revival recording of CANDIDE is as follows: "Enhanced with a pared down book and new lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, this new version of the show, played as a theatre-in-the-round, enjoyed great success when it came to the Broadway Theatre on March 5, 1974, providing fans of the musical theatre with a new taste for this fabled musical. Lewis J. Stadlen stole the show with his impish portrayal of Voltaire/Pangloss, accenting the zaniness in Hugh Wheeler's delirious book, and keeping the fun going for a remarkable 740 performances."

Of note, the CANDIDE revival was first released on LP on May 10, 1974.
