Theatre producer Daryl Roth has announced this year's recipient of the 2008 Creative Spirit Award:  LAByrinth Theater Company member Brett C. Leonard.  The Creative Spirit Award was founded 12 years ago to celebrate gifted theatre artists and provide them with support as they develop new work in an artistic residency.

Brett C. Leonard has been a LAByrinth Company Member since 2003.  His playwriting credits include Guinea Pig Solo, Roger and Vanessa, Scotch and Water.  His short plays include Bobo an' Spyder..., and Interrogation.  Mr. Leonard's debut feature film Jailbait, starring Michael Pitt and Stephen Adly Guirgis, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and received both the Grand Jury Prize and Emerging Filmmaker Award at the Lake Placid Film Festival.  He is also Associate Artistic Director of London's Shotgun Theatre Company.
