Rattlestick Playwrights Theater will open its 12th season with It Goes Without Saying, a solo piece by acclaimed actor and mime Bill Bowers.  Performances begin on Wednesday, August 30.  Opening night is Thursday, September 7, and the show scheduled to run through October 8.

"In this 75-minute joy ride, Bill shares funny, heart-breaking, and unbelievable true stories from both his career and his lifelong exploration of the role silence plays in all our lives. It Goes Without Saying takes the audience on a scenic tour of Bill's life thus far; from his childhood in the wilds of Montana, to his outrageous jobs as a performer, to the whirlwind of working on Broadway, and studying with Marcel Marceau. Compared to the work of Claudia Shear, Lisa Kron and David Sedaris, It Goes Without Saying is an auto-biographical tour-de-force," acoording to production notes.

The show was developed with Martha Banta who also directs. The creative team includes John McDermott (sets), Ed McCarthy (lights), Jill BC Du Boff (sound) and Michael Growler (costumes). It had its world premiere at The Berkshire Theatre Festival in 2004.

As a native of Montana,  Bowers grew up under the expansive Big Sky of the American Northwest.  As an actor, mime and educator, hehas performed throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. "Bowers' extensive training and heartfelt personal style of acting and pantomime have led him on an incredible journey from regional stage to tours, television, film, and even Broadway.  As a student of life, Bill continues to develop and hone his craft. He is a perpetual 'whirling dervish' who keeps busy combining critically-acclaimed stage performances in plays and musicals with tours of his original mime shows and educational workshops and residencies."
