This Friday, May 5th, on Theater Talk at 12:30 AM on Thirteen, lyricist Susan Birkenhead (Triumph of Love, Jelly's Last Jam) and Howard Kissel, chief drama critic of The Daily News, discuss Words with Music: Creating the Broadway Musical Libretto, the classic 1971 how-to book on creating effective muscial comedy, which has just been released by Applause Books in a new edition updated and revised by Kissel.

The panel will discuss the valuable rules and truths imparted by Words with Music's author - Lehman Engels (1910-1982), the legendary conductor and master teacher - in this book and at the influencial BMI workshop, which he founded and which has continued to train talent for the musical theater (including Birkenhead) to this day.

The show will reair on CUNY-TV (channel 75): Saturday, May 13 at 8:30 PM, Sunday, May 14 at 12:20 PM, as well as Monday, May 15 at 7:30 PM. 1:30 PM and 7:30 PM.
