Bethlehem House Gallery, a contemporary art gallery providing innovative art in a variety of contemporary styles, will host the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) for its annual Senior Student Art Exhibit. The exhibit will take place at Bethlehem House Gallery, 459 Main Street, Bethlehem, April 10-May 10, 2015. The opening reception will be held on Friday, April 10 at 6pm.

Held annually since 2008, the exhibit is the culminating event for senior art majors, showcasing their strongest artwork created over the duration of their four-year artistic education at Charter Arts. The artwork is traditionally juried by the visual art faculty with a focus on current and original artwork representative of each student's individualized artistic progress. Previous exhibition collections have included Regional and National Scholastic Art Award-winning drawings, paintings, and sculptures.

The Charter Arts visual art faculty, senior art majors, select members of Art Alliance, the school appointed graphic designer, other school personnel, and Bethlehem House Gallery all worked together to produce the exhibit. This year's exhibit will also feature the work of Charter Arts alum Arturo Cabrera and Jessica Bastidas. Both Cabrera and Bastidas have their work displayed throughout the Lehigh Valley and beyond.

"This is a great opportunity for the community to support young, local talent," said Kate Hughes, assistant director at Bethlehem House Gallery. "The Gallery will be giving the students a larger than normal percentage of the sale as well as donating 20 percent of the purchase price back to the school. We are thrilled to be able to give the students this occasion to show their work in a gallery early in their careers."

The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts is an audition-based, tuition-free, public charter school that provides a comprehensive curriculum for high school students, grades 9-12, who have a passion for the arts. Students major in one of six artistic areas: dance, theatre, vocal music, instrumental music, visual art or figure skating.

The Charter Arts regional model enables students from a wide geographic area to maximize their special talents in the arts, while building a strong, developmental foundation for post-secondary education and the work force. The school offers a full complement of core courses at the College Preparatory (CP), Honors, and Advanced Placement (AP) levels. The course catalog consists of more than 150 courses ranging from traditional core courses to pre-professional courses in the arts.

Charter Arts' rigorous curriculum fosters both academic and artistic excellence. The school's impressive PA School Performance Profile (SPP) Academic Score of 88, AP and Keystone exam statistics, prestigious artistic accolades, and 99% graduation rate are a testament to the outstanding education Charter Arts provides.
