TVGuide.com reports that Tony Award-winner Ben Vereen will guest star on "Grey's Anatomy" this fall.

He will appear as a Seattle Grace patient in the second episode of Season Five. "I was exposed to a fire in my apartment and I come in as a burn victim...I'm a wise, old guy who is the neighbor of a family he's adopted who has a terrible misfortune," said Vereen, who is currently signed for one episode on the ABC medical drama but who would be willing to do more.

"Grey's Anatomy," which airs on Thursdays at 9 PM, was created by Shonda Rhimes and is one of the highest rated shows on television.  It stars Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl, as well as theatre veterans Sara Ramirez and Chandra Wilson.

Vereen has been seen on Broadway in Wicked, Sweet Charity, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grind, Jelly's Last Jam, A Christmas Carol, Chicago, Fosse, I'm Not Rappaport and Pippin, for which he won a Tony Award. TV credits include "Roots" and "Louis Armstrong - Chicago Style."  His own network special, "Ben Vereen: His Roots," received nine Emmy nominations and won seven Emmy Awards. Vereen's film appearances include All That Jazz, Funny Lady (for which he received a Golden Globe nomination), Why Do Fools Fall in Love, the animated movie Once Upon a Forest and The Painting.
