Ben Vereen to Give MLK Tribute at Marble Community Gospel, 1/16

Ben Vereen will join the award-winning Marble Community Gospel Choir, directed by Djore Nance on Sunday, January 16th at 2pm at Marble Collegiate Church (5th Avenue and 29th Street).

The concert, entitled Sing Mahalia!  Preach Martin! celebrates the music and spirit of Mahalia Jackson and DR. Martin Luther King, Jr.  The concert also features Grammy Award nominee Damien Sneed and the Levites.

Admission to the concert is $20 at the door and $15 for students and seniors.

Ben Vereen has appeared on Broadway in Wicked, Fosse, I'm Not Rappaport, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Pippin, Grind, Jelly's Last Jam and A Christmas Carol. His role in Pippin garnered him both the prestigious Tony Award and the Drama Desk Award for "Best Actor in a Musical." Ben also headlined with Chita Rivera in Chicago, the first Broadway production to play Las Vegas.  Additionally, Ben has a recurring role on the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, playing Wayne Brady's father. Ben will release his CD Steppin' Out Live with Ben Vereen next month which will coincide with his concert on Friday, Feb. 18th at 8pm at Town Hall. 

 Under the leadership of Dr. Michael B.
