Beijing Playhouse, China's largest locally producEd English Broadway theatre, will end its run of the Broadway musical I Do! I Do! May 23rd. I Do! I Do! will be performed in English with Chinese subtitles at Goose and Duck and various venues in Beijing.

Nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Composer and Lyricist, I Do! I Do! is a Broadway musical by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, the same team that produced the longest-running production in the history of the American stage, The Fantasticks.

I Do! I Do!, which spans fifty years, focuses on trials and tribulations, laughter and sorrows, hopes and disappointments as experienced by a couple, Agnes (Ruth Novales) and Michael (Brandon B. Blackburn-Dwyer). The couple weathers wedding jitters, a new house, raising a family, sexual tension, midlife crises, quarrels, separation, reconciliation, and growing old together. It includes the popular songs "Together Forever" and "My Cup Runneth Over with Love."

Beijing Playhouse, China's English Broadway theatre, specializes in traditional Broadway favorites like Guys and Dolls, The Odd Couple, and A Christmas Carol. Beijing Playhouse shows have subtitles, painstakingly created, to preserve the artistic beauty of the show and at the same time to make the shows accessible to a non-English speaking Chinese audience-to introduce a Chinese audience to English theatre.
