The devastation continues in Haiti as another major aftershock recently hit the island nation just as efforts to get aid to the area have increased. Although this new setback makes relief efforts even more difficult, now more than ever, the Haitian people need worldwide support. To help the cause, join community leaders for a special HAITIAN BENEFIT CONCERT to be held at the Bay Street Theatre to raise money for earthquake victims.

On Saturday, January 30th come in out of the cold and rally around the victims of the Haiti disaster for a special HAITIAN BENEFIT CONCERT organized by Suffolk County Legislator Jay Schneiderman and other local political and community leaders. The show will start at 8pm and a suggested donation of $25 will be accepted at the door starting at 7:30pm. 100% of all proceeds from the evening will benefit Haitian victims. All monies will be donated through two charities; UNICEF and YÉLE HAITI.

The line-up of performances contains music to suit all tastes and will showcase many local talents who have donated their time for the cause. The evening has a very special meaning for one musician; OBED Jean Louis is a native of Haiti and recent addition to the band Living Rhythm who will be performing a special solo performance. Three days after Louis' first performance with Living Rhythm, the earthquake struck in Port-au-Prince. After days of uncertainty, Louis was blessed to find that all of his family members survived. Other performers donating their talents to help raise funds include, DJAMBELI DRUM & DANCE who will kick off the evening with a performance of West African rhythms, accompanied by singing and dance. Next on stage is OBED Jean Louis, bassist and vocalist. Jim Turner will follow with his music of rock'n'roll, blues, folk, jazz and more. MR. NO SHAME, a group of seven local musicians, is up next with a mix of rock and pop featuring latin rhythms, funk and jazz. ALFREDO MERAT will follow with his special Latin Jazz sounds. The main performance is a 40-minute set by local band DAN BAILEY & LIVING RHYTHM. Living Rhythm will grace the stage with their mix of roots reggae and drums. After the performances all are invited into the lobby for an after-party to keep the fun rolling!

Due to the recent addition of this special benefit to Bay Street's schedule, CAROLE LOMBARD NIGHT at THE PICTURE SHOW will be cancelled for Saturday, January 30th. In addition, there will be no Jam Session on Thursday, January 28th. THE JAM SESSION will return on Thursday, February 4th at 7pm.
