On March 8, 2014, Norm Lewis made his long-awaited solo debut for the AMERICAN SONGBOOK Series, at the recently renamed Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center (now, the Appel Room).

His show was called "WHO AM I?" directed by Richard Jay-Alexander with musical director Joseph Joubert and skillfully played with George Farmer on Bass and Perry Cavari on Drums. It was, literally, a "game-changer" in the "male division" of presentations.

The New York Times proclaimed that the show bridged genres in the Songbook Series and called it "a high point of Lincoln Center's Songbook Series." Stephen Holden also stated about Lewis, "Just about everything a leading man with a mighty voice should be."

The lighting and sound were as excellent as what has come to be expected from the series and having Norm's cousin, the Pastor Bobby Lewis and the Bobby Lewis Ensemble, put this concert beautifully "over-the-top." No one wanted to see it end.

BroadwayWorld was there and if you missed our photos, you can catch up by clicking here.

We promised you "EXCLUSIVE" footage and it is here for you to see, but editing this down to 3 minutes (union rules) was one of the most difficult edits we've ever faced. This "one-night-only" show is sure to re-appear somewhere, at some point, but, the song list was extraordinary and made it very difficult to pick or choose. We did our best :)
