This week CEC is proud to share a video of Emma Hunton singing "We Were Children" by one of our favorite new composers, Anna Dagmar. The talented Hunton performed this song at our CEC concert at NYMF.

"We Were Children," from Anna Dagmar's 2012 album Satellite, tells the harrowing tale of a child soldier who bravely escapes from a war zone and realizes he has left his best friend behind to an unknown fate. Here one child and his regrets stand for all the children cruelly thrust into adult strife.

Anna Dagmar is a British-born/NYC-based pianist, vocalist and composer and first-year member of the BMI Advanced Musical Theatre Writing Workshop. Her songs have been showcased in Cutting Edge Composers and the Directory of Contemporary Musical Theatre Writers concerts. Also a singer-songwriter, her fourth CD, Satellite, features piano-woven folk/pop songs enhanced by original string and woodwind arrangements. Dagmar is a NERFA showcase artist and a Kerrville Newfolk Finalist. She won Gold Prize in the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest. www.AnnaDagmar.com
