Following a recent Emmy Award nomination for his musical work on the NBC television series "Scrubs," Tony Award winning composer Jeff Marx sat down at The Academy for New Musical Theatre in North Hollywood with BroadwayWorld's James Sims to discuss the first national tour of Avenue Q as well as his rise to Broadway fame.

Avenue Q opened on Broadway on July 31, 2003 before productions sprung up in London and Las Vegas, and is now trekking across the country making its West Coast premiere at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre June 30, 2007. The tour makes it next stop in San Francisco before arriving at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles beginnign September 4, 2007.

"Smart and risqué," Avenue Q has music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Marx, and book by Jeff Whitty, based on an original concept by Robert Lopez and Marx. Avenue Q is directed by Jason Moore and choreographed by Ken Roberson.
