BEIN' GREEN: A COLLECTION OF IRISH SONGS

You know the saying: "All good things must come to an end." Rarely has it been as true as with the BroadwayWorld Cabaret Award-nominated series NEW YORK CABARET'S GREATEST HITS (produced/hosted by Stephen Hanks, with Associate Producer Fr. Jeffrey Hamblin, MD), which plays its final installment on Monday night. Through 19 shows, the series has been a nostalgic look-back at some of the scene's best shows you may or may not have gotten to see the first time around. As to be expected, it ends on a high note, as Colm Reilly revisits his hit 2002 show BEIN' GREEN: A COLLECTION OF IRISH SONGS. In his rich, brimming tenor, Reilly transforms the Met Room into the local pub with a charming, high-spirited set celebrating Reilly's Gaelic heritage... All too fitting to make this final curtain into a night of fun and reflection. Monday, May 22, 7 pm at Metropolitan Room. - Ashley Steves

MIGGUEL ANGGELO: SO CLOSE - LOVE & HATE

These are political times, and Migguel Anggelo's story is---undeniably, unfortunately---political. A gay man and an immigrant from Venezuela living in modern America, his shows are deeply personal, full of passion, heartache, and hopefulness. In the follow-up to the brilliant ANOTHER SON OF VENEZUELA, his newest show, SO CLOSE: LOVE & HATE, is an intimate song cycle "addressing divisiveness, humanity and hope." And how deeply we need not just that call to action, but Anggelo's soul, as well. Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 25, 7 pm at Joe's Pub. - Ashley Steves

JOHN LLOYD YOUNG AT FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW

Is it even possible to go wrong with John Lloyd Young at this point? Has it ever been? The Tony (and Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Award) winner has got the formula figured out. In his new six-show run at Feinstein's, Young pairs the familiar from his last show with new-to-venue options. Even if you're not in the mood necessarily to hear Frankie Valli, his roller coaster range of highs and lows is sure to thrill. Runs May 23 through May 27, 7 pm (with an extra 9:30 pm show on May 27) at Feinstein/s/54 Below. - Ashley Steves

KATE CHASTON: THE PEDRO PROJECT

Like any good artist, Kate Chaston pulls muses out of obscure places. But Chaston's performances are smorgasbords, stuffed with morsels of cabaret, jazz, soul, blues, and pop, and duplicitous in their ability to unnerve and inspire you. In THE PEDRO PROJECT, she meets those guidelines in a tour of music dedicated to Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar (TALK TO HER, THE SKIN I LIVE IN, WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN), drawing on songs used in his oeuvre, in addition to original material he inspired. The combination is what separates Chaston as great from the good. Thursday, May 25, 9 pm at BAR thalia. - Ashley Steves

AN AUDIENCE WITH MOLLY POPE

Anyone who has seen Molly Pope knows she can put on a show. Sometimes wry, sometimes sassy, but never boring, she returns to Joe's with AN AUDIENCE WITH Molly Pope for an album show to celebrate her first recording---live or otherwise---in an evening of songs, stories, and raucous fun. Alongside Musical Director Tedd Firth and a stunning five-piece band, Pope is sure, as always, to let the good times roll. Thursday, May 25, 9:30 pm at Joe's Pub. - Ashley Steves

JUSTIN VIVIAN BOND SHOWS UP

Justin Vivian Bond's new tour show, JUSTIN VIVIAN BOND SHOWS UP, might be a bit of a misnomer; it's too redundant. One of the hardest working people in show business, Mx Bond always shows up, finding the time to take on everything, everywhere. And with v's unmatchable knack for social and political commentary, paired with electrifying, enamoring performances, it's in your best interest that you show up, as well. Runs May 26 through May 28, 9:30 PM at Joe's Pub. - Ashley Steves
