BANANA MAN LIVE to Make World Premiere at Hollywood Fringe Festival
Ari Fromm's solo show, directed by Natalie Nicole Dressel, will be staged at the Broadwater Black Box.
Banana Man LIVE a new solo work written and performed by nonbinary actor/content creator Ari Fromm will premier June 15 as a part of the 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival (with a preview June 4).
The production is directed by Natalie Nicole Dressel. Performances will be held at the Broadwater Black Box (6322 Santa Monica Blvd). A 20-minute workshop version of "Banana Man LIVE" debuted in April as a part of Joy Who Lived, an all-transgender Los Angeles theater festival.
The premise of the show is based on an ongoing satirical web series called Banana Man, where Ari Fromm plays a cast of anthropomorphic fruit characters in a world of fruits. The series is available on Instagram and TikTok.
While the play never explicitly mentions gender, it mocks expectations around the gender binary by setting the story in a world where fruit characters believe there are "only two kinds of fruits: apples and bananas." The play follows the story of Banana, who believes religiously in the fruit binary, as it goes out into the fruit world and has its expectations shattered.
The runtime is 60 minutes. Ages 8+.
