B-Side Productions will present an industry reading of Timothy Huang's COSTS OF LIVING tomorrow, September 25, in New York City. Hansel Tan and James Seol lead a cast featuring Stacie Bono, Dan Edwards, Scott Guthrie, Orville Mendoza, Sharone Sayegh, and EJ Zimmerman.

As the inaugural recipient of B-Side Productions' New American Musical Award, COSTS OF LIVING received a three-week developmental workshop with Artistic Director Jasper Grant, with direction by John Michael DiResta and musical direction by Drew Wutke.

Inspired by an article from the 2009 New York Times, Timothy Huang's COSTS OF LIVING tells the story of two immigrant cab drivers who share opposite shifts off the same medallion. While Eng slowly climbs the ladder of success by day, his partner Chin, falls short by night, suffering disappointment after disappointment. The two men's fates become intertwined as forced competition drives a wedge between them that culminates in a single desperate act. COSTS OF LIVING explores the marginalization of the immigrant working class, the consequences of wealth inequality and arbitrary nature of American prosperity.
