Ars Nova presents, as part of the Out Loud series, a FREE reading of: QUEEN BEE by Sharyn Rothstein, directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt. The cast includes Leslie Ayvazian, Kyle Beltran, Aya Cash, Will Jackson Harper and Chip Zien.

When her yacht is hijacked by Somali pirates, Belinda Bischoff develops an unlikely friendship with the young Somali translator responsible for holding her captive. But as Belinda’s isolation forces her to relive the bad choices that led her to sail around the world with a man she barely knew, she realizes the only way to help her new friend is to face the life she left behind.

Sharyn Rothstein’s musicals, full-length and one-acts plays have been produced and workshopped in New York and around the country by companies such as The Williamstown Theatre Festival, Ars Nova, The Flea, Ensemble Studio Theatre, New Georges, Bay Area Playwrights Foundation and Soho Think Tank. Sharyn holds an MFA in dramatic writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, as well as a Masters in Public Health from Hunter College. She is a member of the Ars Nova Play Group, and an alumni of EST’s Youngblood.

She is a recent recipient of a Jerome Foundation/Tofte Lake Fellowship, the EST/Sloan grant, a New Georges Affiliated Artist, and a member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab.
