Famed designer Giorgio Armani is donating one million dollars to arts programs in New York City public schools.
Armani made this announcement during the opening of the Armani/5th Avenue flagship store. The new initiative is dubbed the Armani Arts Institute.
The money will go to the Fund for Public Schools, a nonprofit organization that supports city schools and has raised more than $240 million since 2003.
Armani has previously made strides in other positive directions being the first designer to ban models with a BMI under 18. He was also named UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador in 2002.
