Signal to Noise, the late-night Art Party presented by Museum of the Moving Image, returns on Saturday, October 8, 2011, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. with DIY rock stars Anamanaguchi as featured performers and co-curators of the evening. Working with Jason Eppink, Assistant Curator of Digital Media, the band has selected a lineup that includes Extreme Animals, whose video/music explosions have been called "thought-provokingly hilarious" (Art Practical); MiniBoone, whose raucous tunes will be paired with visuals from Holly Danger; and catchy experimental rock from Landlady. The party also features Modal Kombat, the first ever guitar-controlled video game battle, and an all-night tournament of Shadowplay, the live-action puzzle game you play with your shadow.

"So many artists are taking moving images away from the passive space of the theater or the solitary experience of the computer monitor and putting them into social spaces where they're performed live, integrated into the environment, and made interactive. Signal to Noise is a showcase for this work." said Mr. Eppink. "Collaborating with Anamanaguchi has been terrific: Live visuals and old video game hardware are integral to the experiences they create, and as co-curators they've brought a load of fresh ideas and young talent that will make this event unforgettable."

Additional performers include LoVid, the duo of Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus who blast video noise from handmade hardware, and Smooth Breeze, playing easy-listening jazz with creamy screensavers. The Chinatown-based emerging artists group Luck You Collective, team up with easylife and Strongbros, to create "Electromagnetic Pulse," an installation environment in the lobby featuring lights, projections, and DJs Burger Sundae, Girlbro, Beatsaface, and Latitude Zero. Some surprises are in store. For more on each artist, visit http://movingimage.us/.

An open bar from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m., sponsored by Reyka and Samuel Adams, will be followed by a cash bar. Coolhaus and Big D's Grub Truck will be parked out front.
