Lonely Sky Theatre Company (LSTC) will present "An Evening with Ricky Ian Gordon" on Monday, May 30th at OPIA Lounge. Mr. Gordon will perform an intimate one-night benefit concert featuring songs from Bright Eyed Joy: The Songs of Ricky Ian Gordon, My Life with Albertine, and Dream True. Only 100 tickets will be available for the performance with all proceeds going to support Lonely Sky Theatre Company. The evening will feature four talented performers including: Michael Arden (Big River, Bare: A Pop Opera), Rosena M. Hill (Ragtime, Marie Christine), Scott Murphree (Cymbeline, Don Giovanni), and Diane Sutherland (A Chorus Line, First Lady Suite, Song & Dance, Cats).
The New York Times said, "If the music of Ricky Ian Gordon had to be defined by a single quality, it would be the bursting effervescence infusing songs that blithely blur the lines between art song and the high-end Broadway music of Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim...It's caviar for a world gorging on pizza." Gordon is the brilliant, award winning composer of My Life With Albertine (Playwrights Horizons), Dream True with Tina Landau (Vineyard Theater), Only Heaven (PS Classics), and Genius Child - his cycle of ten Langston Hughes settings. His songs have been performed and recorded by Renee Fleming, Dawn Upshaw, Audra McDonald, Kristin Chenoweth, and Betty Buckley.
"An Evening with Ricky Ian Gordon" on Monday, May 30th at 9pm at OPIA. Opia is located at 130 East 57th Street (Between Lexington and Park Avenue). Tickets for the event are $20 with a two-drink minimum and are available at lonelysky.org, or by calling the box office at 1-800-595-4TIX.
