According to an Equity casting notice, Atlanta's ALLIANCE THEATRE will soon present a musical version of the 1988 film Bull Durham. The project will be directed by Kip Fagan, who recently helmed a NYC lab presentation, and will feature musical direction by Jason DeBord and choreography by Josh Bergasee.

Rehearsals are set to begin in July 2014, with opening night on September 13, 2014. The limited run will continue through October 5, 2014.

Based upon the minor league experiences of writer/director Ron Shelton, the film depicts The Players and fans of the Durham Bulls, a minor league baseball team in Durham, North Carolina. The film stars Kevin Costner as "Crash" Davis, a veteran catcher brought in to teach rookie pitcher Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh (Tim Robbins) about the game in preparation for reaching the Major Leagues.

Founded in 1968, the ALLIANCE THEATRE has become the lead producing theatre in the Southeast, creating the powerful experience of shared theatre for diverse people on two stages.
