Alan Aymie's A CHILD LEFT BEHIND Benefits GRASP Tonight
ALAN AYMIE will perform his one-man show, A CHILD LEFT BEHIND, a personal & humanizing look at the life of a teacher & father who has a child with Asperger's, who works for the LA School District. The performance will be a benefit for GRASP (Global & Regional Asperger Syndrome Partnership) tonight, July 16 at 8 pm at The New Theater.
"My son likes numbers," says Aymie, "In kindergarten, he was adding & subtracting in the millions place. At age five, he could do things with numbers, most of the 5th grade children I taught could never think about doing. This play is about all those children, the reasons why some get left behind & why test scores never tell the whole story."
Two years ago, A CHILD LEFT BEHIND saw its initial performance in LA. Originally directed by Paul Stein at the Skylight Theater, it has played at three theatres for over a year & now it will be performed in New York City.
ALAN AYMIE is an award-winning, critically-acclaimed, playwright, performer, actor & educator. His work has been produced in LA, NY, DC, Boston & the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, CO. He is currently appearing in New York, Off-Broadway inETHEL SINGS: Espionage in High C, about the execution of Ethel & Julius Rosenberg, as Ethel's brother, David Greenglass.
