59E59 Theaters is proud to host A Day With A Night, two special Master Classes given by legendary playwright and director Alan Ayckbourn, as part of their Brits Off Broadway festival. Both Master Classes take place on Sunday, June 5.

11:30 AM - 1:30 PM Acting Comedy Master Class
This special Master Class is for actors in the early stages of their careers. Working with Alan Ayckbourn, participants will explore and develop selected extracts from his plays. It provides a rare opportunity to share the process and see the scenes take shape.

Tickets: $50
59E59 Members: $40 100 tickets for the Master Class will be allocated FREE to theater students. Students MUST CALL 212-753-5959 ext. 120 to reserve their seats. A valid student ID is required. Tickets are available on a first come/first serve basis.

3.00 PM: The Art of Playmaking Master Class

Alan Ayckbourn's recently published a book, The Crafty Art of Playmaking, uses experience and anecdotes to explain how plays are put together, which both practitioners and theater-lovers alike found illuminating. The book details Mr. Ayckbourne's set of "Obvious Rules" for writing and directing plays. Explaining the success, the pitfalls, and the personalties encountered along with way, Mr. Aykbourne will illustrate these rules to the audience, and answer questions.

Books will be available for signing and there will be an opportunity to meet and chat with him in the bar over refreshments and a glass of champagne.

Brits Off Broadway at 59E59 Theaters is hosting the US premiere of Alan Ayckbourn's Private Fears in Public Places, featuring the US debut of his rep company from the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough. Private Fears in Public Places begins previews on Thursday, June 9 for a limited engagement through Sunday, July 3.
