Adam Sank to Release Debut Comedy Album on Christmas Day

By: Dec. 09, 2015
Adam Sank: Live from the Stonewall Inn will be released by Comedy Dynamics on iTunes, Google Play, and all other digital retailers and streaming sites on December 25, 2015.

For more than a decade, openly gay funnyman Adam Sank has been telling jokes on-stage across the country and beyond, in places as far-flung as New York, L.A., Toronto, Cancun and Oklahoma City. He's widely recognized from his multiple appearances on Sirius-XM radio, as well as shows like NBC's Last Comic Standing, FOX's Laughs and Vh1's I Love the 2000s. But Sank is about to reach his biggest audience yet with the release of Adam Sank: Live from the Stonewall Inn, his first-ever comedy album, which drops on Christmas Day.

"Just like Jesus," says Sank.

Recorded live this past September, in front of a capacity crowd in the upstairs cabaret space at the legendary birthplace of the LGBT civil rights movement, Live From the Stonewall Inn captures Sank riffing on everything from bad dirty talk to awkward high school hook-ups to horny Muppets. No topic is off-limits, including the time Sank was mistakenly assumed to be mentally disabled at his gym... and deservedly so.

The decision to record Sank's set in such a historic haunt was deliberate. "People don't necessarily think of Stonewall as a place to do a comedy album," Sank explains. "But for me, it was very important, especially for my first album. Because if the Stonewall Riots hadn't happened, I wouldn't be able to get on stage as an openly gay man and tell dick jokes. It's a place that really represents freedom and perseverance. Plus, they always give me free drinks there."

Sank thinks listeners of all different sexualities will identify with his self-deprecating, highly confessional material. "We've all had awful sex at one time or another. We've all made total asses of ourselves at the gym. That's what makes comedy so universal. It doesn't matter if you're gay or straight or whatever. Everyone's a big mess."
