ANTI-FASCIST PASTA NIGHT To Be Presented at Edinburgh Fringe 2026
The Free Fringe show wins the Inspiring Social Justice Award at the Inspire Performing Arts Festival.
Comedian, writer, producer, and filmmaker Ron Placone is set to premiere his new stand-up show Anti-Fascist Pasta Night at the 2026 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show will run August 6-30 at 15:45pm (3:45pm) as part of the Free Fringe. Admission is free and non-ticketed with a pay-what-you-can collection at the end. Full event details and venue information are available on the Edinburgh Fringe website.
Anti-Fascist Pasta Night is a political stand-up hour that takes audiences on a journey through politics, culture, travel, relationships, and the small coping mechanisms that keep us from fully losing it. The title was inspired by real anti-fascist pasta nights in Italy, a little-known post-Mussolini tradition rooted in another little-known bit of trivia: Mussolini hated pasta and felt it was at least one of the causes of society's ills that he sought to correct with his authoritarian regime. Therefore, pasta is anti-fascist. Also, Ron is Italian so is obviously uniquely qualified to speak on both topics. You'll learn to love cats and hate capitalism, if you don't already. Ron has been a political comic since 2007, tracing the country's long decline from the Iraq War to whatever fresh hell we're calling the present, and he invites you to join him in a show for the lefties, the weirdos, the freethinkers, the peaceniks, the dreamers, or anyone who wants to reclaim pasta's anti-fascist roots while also fighting the power.

Before he heads across the pond, Ron will bring preview performances to Los Angeles and New York.
LA Preview: May 16 @ Flappers Comedy Club, Burbank. Get tickets.
NYC Preview: June 5 @ QED Astoria. Get tickets.
Ron's previous solo-show Balding Is Punk Rock earned four stars at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and drew praise from critics and audiences alike:
ABOUT RON PLACONE
Ron Placone is a comedian/writer/producer/filmmaker seen on Discovery Channel, HBOMax, Hulu, AppleTV, Tubi, CrossTalk, Redacted Tonight, Status Coup News, and more. A joke-slinging vagabond, he's toured nearly everywhere in the US, Australia, Canada, and his solo-show, "Balding is Punk Rock", premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2023 (****). He will be returning to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2026 with his new stand-up show, "Anti-Fascist Pasta Night." His co-headlining tour with Graham Elwood sold out venues in Melbourne, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Miami.
In 2022, Ron took the dive into production. Since then, he's released the webisode/pilot, Loner, his vertical series, Frank Azurri, premiered in Rome and then was later released on Status Coup News, and his debut feature, Left At Wall, enjoyed sold out screenings in Los Angeles and Pittsburgh, an international screening in London, and is out NOW on a bunch of platforms. Ron recommends watching it on Tubi because it's free there. Bit by the bug, he wrote and produced the stage play, Termination Fee. Termination Fee premiered at the Hollywood Fringe in 2025, it sold out 60% of its run and was nominated for Ink Well Theater's Playwright's Promise Award. Termination Fee is currently in post-production as a feature film.
He also co-produced the web-comic Lucy & Ron and hosts the podcast called 1000 w/ Ron Placone, where, as he puts it: "Each week I interview somebody who is living a creative, fulfilling life, and doing inspiring work amidst the backdrop of a society in decline. For the freethinkers and those going against the tide."
