In A LONELY NIGHT IN CONEY ISLAND by Mohammed Saad Ali, Omar, Fred, and Sam are hangin', smoking some weed. But in today's America, only one of them is a criminal. With the specter of prior offenses over his head, Arab-born Omar needs to be very careful.

"Lonely Night..." examines the new reality for Middle Eastern individuals today.

Award-winning playwright, Mohammed Saad Ali, continues his literary exploration of what it means to be a Muslim in America in the 21st Century. His works have included Canaan about an improvised couple (he is Arab, she is Jewish) and their impending pregnancy; Old Men are Full of S**T about a grocery store owner in an unfriendly neighborhood; and Meditations - each month becoming a living... existential ... human being.

Special presentation, Friday, April 28 @ 9:00 p.m as part of RISE OF THE PHOENIX: The 2017 Spotlight-On Festival, April 17 - 30 at The Wild Project, 195 East 3rd Street, NYC. Jmae.events@gmail.com for more information.

The event is produced by Frank Calo, founder of Spotlight-On Festivals, the first organized theater festival in New York City, pre-dating the New York Fringe Festival by one year.
