A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder announced today that the First National Tour has recouped its entire capitalization. Making the news even more momentous, the tour reached this milestone during its current weeklong engagement in Hartford, CT - the city where Gentleman's Guide had its world premiere in 2012. The First National Tour launched on September 30, 2015.

Producer Joey Parnes said, "Hartford audiences were instrumental in setting Gentleman's Guide on its miraculous path. So getting to celebrate recoupment in this great city is not just exciting for all of us who have been with this show from early on - it's absolutely poetic."

"The return of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder to Hartford, where it premiered exactly four years ago, is made even sweeter with the news of the National Tour's recoupment," added director Darko Tresnjak, who also serves as Artistic Director of Hartford Stage. "We want to thank all the audiences - in Hartford, on Broadway, and across the United States - who have embraced our show over the past four years."

The tour will continue to delight audiences across the country. Upcoming stops include Hershey, PA; Wilmington, DE; Charlotte, NC; Providence, RI; East Lansing, MI; Baltimore, MD; Cincinnati, OH; Fayetteville, AR; Naples, FL; Nashville, TN; Orlando, FL; Buffalo, NY; Costa Mesa, CA; and Sacramento, CA.

Gentleman's Guide tells the uproarious story of Monty Navarro, a distant heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump the line of succession, by any means necessary. All the while, he's got to juggle his mistress (she's after more than just love), his fiancée (she's his cousin but who's keeping track?), and the constant threat of landing behind bars! Of course, it will all be worth it if he can slay his way to his inheritance... and be done in time for tea.

The most celebrated musical of the 2013-14 Broadway season, Gentleman's Guide received ten Tony® Award nominations, eventually winning four awards: Best Musical, Direction of a Musical, Book of a Musical, and Best Costume Design. In addition, it won the Best Musical prizes from the Drama League, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle, and received a 2015 Grammy® Award nomination for Best Musical Show Album.

A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder features a book and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman and music and lyrics by Steven Lutvak. Direction is by Darko Tresnjak, with choreography by Peggy Hickey. The design team includes Alexander Dodge (Scenic Design), Linda Cho (Costume Design),Philip S. Rosenberg (Lighting Design), Dan Moses Schreier (Sound Design), Aaron Rhyne(Projections Design), Brian Strumwasser (Make-Up Design), and Charles LaPointe (Wig Design). Orchestrations are by Jonathan Tunick and Vocal Arrangements are by DiAnne Adams McDowelland Steven Lutvak. Paul Staroba serves as Music Supervisor.

Critics across the country are raving about Gentleman's Guide, hailed as "one of the best new Broadway musicals in years" by Time Out Chicago. The New York Times raved "Gentleman's Guidewill lift the hearts of all those who've been pining for what sometimes seems a lost art form." The San Francisco Chronicle applauded, "The story is sharp, the music and lyrics are bright and witty, and the national touring company executes the Broadway hit brilliantly!"
