2013 Helen Hayes Awards Nominations to Be Announced 1/28

theatreWashington will announce the 29th Helen Hayes Awards nominees on Monday, January 28th, 2013 in The National Theatre's Helen Hayes Gallery. This year, for the first time, theatre lovers in Washington and around the world can watch the nomination announcements live via webcast. Rebecca Sheir of WAMU's Metro Connection and WTOP's Bob Madigan will host.

The culmination of a year-long judging process and rigorous statistical analysis, the nominations announcement will kick off this year's Helen Hayes Awards celebration, to be held on Monday, April 8.

One of the country's most prestigious cultural honors, The Helen Hayes Awards recognizes and celebrates outstanding achievement in over 80 professional theatres throughout the Washington metropolitan area. Named for the legendary First Lady of the American Theatre, nominated artists and companies exemplify the excellence found on all Washington stages, which, in turn, propel Washington as a nationally and internationally recognized thriving theatre town.

The Helen Hayes Awards nominations webcast can be seen live on theatrewashington.org, on LiveStream.com, and on theatreWashington's Facebook page. The webcast will begin at ­6:45 pm and include pre- and post-show highlights and interviews with notable Washington-area theatre professionals. A complete list of the 2013 Helen Hayes Awards nominees will also be available on theatrewashington.org at 9pm on Monday, January 28th.
