10/16 ArtCents Benefit Concert Showcases Eli Bolin
On Monday, October 16, ASTEP (Artists Striving To End Poverty) will present the fourth installment in the ArtCents Benefit Concert Series, a new monthly performance series featuring the works of emerging songwriters, at The Triad on New York's Upper West Side (158 W. 72nd St.).
The fourth ArtCents Benefit Concert will feature the music of composer Eli Bolin.
Bolin is the music director and composer for The Striking Viking Story Pirates, which takes stories written by New York City kids and adapts them into sketches and songs. The October 16 concert will also feature performance by members of The Striking Viking Story Pirates company.
Bolin also wrote the score for the Off-Broadway musical I Sing!, which recently had a successful run in Perth, Australia; runs in London and Melbourne follow later this year. He also serves as music director and arranger for the variety/talk show Creation Nation, which recently performed at the Aspen Comedy Festival and performs monthly at Ars Nova. His first album will be released shortly.
"ArtCents is the primary fundraising effort to support the ASTEP Arts-In-Action Experiences. For the month of August, ASTEP asks working arts professionals on and off Broadway – including the companies of Altar Boyz, Jersey Boys, Sweeney Todd, The Wedding Singer, the Juilliard School, Carnegie Hall and the Urban Bush Women Dance Company – to deposit spare their change in donation to ASTEP," according to press notes.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. and those who attend may pay in spare change for their admission..."by the jar, by the bag, as much as you can scrape together."
