It was revealed today in a press release that a production of the UK hit "God of Carnage," a new play by Yasmina Reza ("Art") will open on Broadway in the spring of 2009. Matthew Warchus who directed the acclaimed UK production will repeat his duties for the Broadway version. There is no information or theatre selection available at this time, but will be announced in the near future.

The New York Post's Michael Riedel reported a number of months ago that James Gandolfini and Marcia Gay Harden may star in the U.S. production of the UK hit "God of Carnage," a new play by Yasmina Reza ("Art"), in the spring.

"God of Carnage" deals with the aftermath of a playground fight between two boys and what happens when their parents meet to talk about it.

Harden, who won an Oscar for her role in the film "Pollock," hasn't appeared on Broadway since she starred in "Angels in America" in 1994.

Gandolfini, better know as 'Tony Soprano' from his career defining role in HBO's The Sopranos, has been away from Broadway even longer comments Riedel in his column.

Back in 1992, he was one of the card players in a revival of "A Streetcar Named Desire," starring Jessica Lange and Alec Baldwin.

Ralph Fiennes, starred along with Janet McTeer in the London stage production of "God of Carnage" at the Gielgud Theatre in the West End. The play received raves from the London critics.

Playwright Yasmina Reza is most noted for her critically acclaimed three-person dark-comedy, Art, which ran for eight years in the West End and later transferred to Broadway, winning the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play. Her other plays include The Unexpected Man and Life x 3
