THE CONDEMNATION OF FAUSTO to Play at Teatro Colón
The Philarmonic Orchestra of Buenos Aires will present The Condemnation of Fausto at Teatro Colón Aug. 29, 2019.
A work that discourages classifications and labels. Conceived to be played and sung in concert version, after the death of the composer he performed in opera and even ballet versions. Located between the lyrical and the choral symphony, Berlioz subtitled it as "Légende dramatique en quatre parties" (Dramatic legend in four parts). He wrote the libretto with the help of Almire Gandonnière and Gérard de Nerval, adapting the French translation of Goethe's Faust. But more than a continuous narration about the character, it presents a series of scenes in the life of Dr. Fausto.
Marc Piollet will lead the Philarmonic Orchestra as the guest musical director. Miguel Marinez serves as the director of the Stable Choir of the Teatro Colón with César Bustamante as the director of the Choir of Children of the Teatro Colón.
Arturo Chacón Cruz will star as "Fausto," with Fernando Radó as "Méphistophéles," Lucas Debevec Mayer as "Brander" and Adriana Mastángelo as "Marguerite."
