BWW Preview: 4 Reasons to Get to Know THE KING AND I at Fox Cities P.A.C.

THE KING AND I will play at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton from January 23 to January 28. Here are four reasons you should be getting to know THE KING AND I.

1. THE KING AND I is a well-loved classic. The 1951 production of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical won five Tony Awards. The show was also made into a movie in 1956, which won five Academy Awards.

2. THE KING AND I features familiar favorites like "Getting To Know You" and "Whistle a Happy Tune" that will run through your head long after the show ends.

3. THE KING AND I is based on a true story. Technically, it is based on a novel that is based on a memoir, but large elements of the original story remain true. THE KING AND I follows a British teacher who teaches King Mongkut's wives and children in 1860s Siam during a time of modernization, all of which actually happened.

4. The 2015 Broadway revival of THE KING AND I won four Tony Awards. This touring production stems from the 2015 Broadway revival, so you can expect much of the same magnificence.

THE KING AND I will run at the Fox Cities P.A.C. from January 23 to January 28. Tickets to THE KING AND I are still available.
