The One-Minute Play Festival (1MPF) (Dominic D'Andrea, Producing Artistic Director & Caitlin Wees, Associate Producer) and Perseverance Theatre (Art Rotch, Executive Artistic Director) continue their dynamic partnership for The 5th Annual Alaska One-minute Play Festival with part of the proceeds to benefit The Alaska Native Voices Project, dedicated to serving and uplifting native Alaskan artists.

Perseverance Theatre is pleased to announce its 40th season, filled with classics, comedies, a classic musical, and exciting new work by and for Alaskans. This season brings characters from a wide range of backgrounds and places. Journey with us from the arctic in Whale Song to New York City in Guys and Dolls, to New England in Our Town, and London in A Christmas Carol (Anchorage), with stops in a contemporary high school in Teenage Dick, a research expedition into the Northwest Passage in Franklin, and 19th century Germany in Steve Martin's hilarious adaptation, The Underpants (Juneau). Thousands of Alaskans will fend off cabin fever as they scream with laughter during Anchorage Concert Association's presentation of the sci-fi smash Little Shop of Horrors, Feb. 20-25 in the Atwood Concert Hall. With infectious music that combines rock, Motown and Broadway, this hilarious musical has devoured the hearts of theatregoers for more than 30 years.
World Premiere of WILLIAM, INC. to Take Place in Juneau and Anchorage

Perseverance Theatre has announced the World Premiere of William, Inc, by Alaska Native playwright Lucas Rowley. Director Randy Reinholz and actor Frank Henry Kaash Katasse, playing William, who collaborated last season on Katasse's play They Don't Talk Back, are joined by a cast and creative team of Perseverance veterans and newcomers. William, Inc. marks the third season in a row that Perseverance Theatre's subscription package includes a play by an Alaska Native writer led by a Native director with Native collaborators. Perseverance Theatre is proud to lead an industry trend amongst recent productions such as Off the Rails at Oregon Shakespeare Festival (written by Randy Reinholz), and Sovereignty at Arena Stage (directed by Perseverance's founder Molly Smith), indigenous written theatre is emerging nationally after years of hard work.

Anchorage Concert Association's presentation of The Nutcracker every Thanksgiving weekend is an annual tradition for many families, and this July, people have an opportunity to extend that tradition to others who may need a little help this holiday season. For every ticket to The Nutcracker purchased from July 10 (when tickets go on sale) to July 31, the Anchorage Concert Association will give away a ticket to someone who would love to see The Nutcracker but couldn't otherwise be able to attend.

In 1916, no one knew the booming town of Treadwell-home to the largest gold mine in the world-was on the brink of its ultimate destruction. In one momentous year, as infrastructure crumbles, fires rage, and war looms, young engineer George Barnett arrives in the territory of Alaska with "guts and genius," not expecting to fall in love or carry the safety of the miners and the town on his shoulders. Treadwell Gold is written by Rachel Atkins and inspired by the book of historical nonfiction by Sheila Kelly. The play is based on real people and events. Treadwell Gold takes us to a time when science and engineering were looked to with faith that progress was always an option and engineering could always make our lives better. Treadwell Gold runs in limited engagement at Perseverance Theatre, June 22 - July 3.

Perseverance Theatre has announced the formation of The Writer's Circle. Perseverance Theatre has awarded participation into The Writer's Circle to five playwrights. The award includes commission, including development support, for a two-year period of time to write and develop a new Alaskan play.
