Theatre Lovers Community Holds Inaugural Event, 2/4

The inaugural Theatre Lovers Community, TLC, event, The Magic of Musicals!, is February 4, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Adobe Theatre. The Magic of Musicals! showcases musical numbers from several upcoming Albuquerque Theatre Guild member shows and provides background information on each, as well as raffles, snacks, and a chance to meet other theater lovers. TLC, a program of the Albuquerque Theatre Guild, enhances audience experiences through educational and social programs, exclusive benefits and invitations, gatherings of theater lovers, and priority admission to events and programs based around local theaters and their productions.

 

“We wanted to kick off this group and our membership drive with an exciting, fun event, says Kay Grant, co-leader of ATG’s Team TLC. “We’ll be treated to a selection of songs and a sneak peek at some beloved musicals, introduced by Henry Avery, Executive Director of Albuquerque Little Theatre and Myra Cochnar, President and Artistic Director of LandmarkMusicals.”

 

Featured will be selections from:       

  • Roots Revival by Rainbow Studio Theatre
  • The Drowsy Chaperone by the Adobe Theater (2006 Tony Award for Best Musical)
  • Anything Goes by Landmark Musicals (winner of 3 Tony Awards)
  • Miss Saigon by Musical Theatre Southwest (1991 Tony Award for Best Musical)
  • Legally Blonde by Musical Theatre Southwest
  • Xanadu and Singin’ in the Rain by Albuquerque Little Theatre

 

Space is limited, so advance reservations are requested by contacting tlc.atg@gmail.com or 341-9590. Tickets are $3 forTLC members, $5 for ATG members, $10 for non-members. Memberships will be available at the door, or online atabqtheatre.org/tlc.

Benefits of TLC

Once or twice a month, TLC members will be invited to programs designed to enhance their theater-going experiences, such as

  • Special discounted performances and backstage tours.
  • Exclusive invitations to observe auditions, rehearsals, and previews.
  • Opportunities to meet other theatre enthusiasts at gatherings such as “Dinner and a Show” or “Around the Piano: Favorite Musical Numbers.”
  • Special privileges like early entry to unreserved seating at participating theatres and space-available admission to the activities of ATG’s Circles (workshops for directors, actors, playwrights, etc.)
  • Opportunities to give VIP feedback to ATG Members about your experiences at the theatre.

Special Incentives to Join TLC Now

Those who join TLC from January 1 through June 30, 2012 will receive membership for the entire July 2012-July 2013 year (up to 6 months free). Membership is $35 per person, $30 for full-time students and seniors 62 and older.
