The Capitol Steps Return to Albuquerque

The Capitol Steps bring their bipartisan brand of political humor to Popejoy Hall on Sunday, February 10 at 3 p.m. In "Make American Grin Again," this institutional comic troupe grabs material fresh from the headlines for skits and song parodies that poke fun at Democrats and Republicans alike.

The original cast formed in 1981 when a group of Congressional staffers for Sen. Charles Percy were tasked with providing entertainment for an office Christmas party. The show was a hit, and they quickly realized making fun of politicians was more rewarding than working for one. After a string of successes, the band of performers decided to ignore conventional wisdom and quit their day jobs. They've since provided much needed comic relief to our Nation's capital, and across the country.

The Capitol Steps skewer all the major players on the political scene. Their skits are jam-packed with jokes that reward audience members who keep up with the news. The show's song parodies are constantly updated, as politicians continue to provide fresh material. Not all of The Capitol Steps performers have held official positions in politics, but together they have served in 18 Congressional offices, and embody 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.

Tickets for The Capital Steps are on sale for $65, $49, $39, and $25. Tickets may be purchased at the UNM Ticket Offices located at the Dreamstyle Arena (The Pit) or at the UNM Bookstore.
