TILL THE STARS COME DOWN To Open Holden Street Theatres 2026 Season

Holden Street Theatres Inc. (HST Inc.) is set to open its 2026 Season with the South Australian premiere of Till the Stars Come Down, the 2024 Oliver nominated smash hit play by award-winning British playwright Beth Steel.

Following its critically acclaimed premiere in London, Till the Stars Come Down makes its debut in Adelaide, after captivating UK audiences with its authentic and raw portrayal of family, class and belonging.

Directed by HST Inc's. Director in Residence Nick Fagan, the production will run for a limited season at The Studio from 26 May to 13 June 2026.

Till the Stars Come Down is a fiercely funny, deeply moving portrait of family, class, and the fragile ties that bind us together. Picture a family wedding - a day meant for joy and celebration...until the cracks begin to show. Beth Steel throws us straight into that world: sisters clashing, family meddling, emotions simmering beneath the bunting.

At the heart of the production is a powerhouse ensemble of some of South Australia's most celebrated and seasoned performers assembled by Fagan, including Martha Lott, Michelle Nightingale, Krystal Cave, Jo St Clair, Brendan Cooney, Brant Eustice, Spencer Scholz, Steve Turner, Laura Lines and Millie Fagan.

For Nick Fagan, Till the Stars Come Down is the perfect opener for HST Inc's 2026 in-house season, following the success of The Debate, which he directed as part of Adelaide Fringe.

"Till the Stars Come Down is a deeply personal and human story that speaks to tenderness and the complexity of family relationships. This is a play for our times, which will connect with Adelaide audiences on every level", Fagan said.

"We have assembled an exceptional local cast for this truly ensemble piece, who will bring this brilliant play to life with its tension, drama and electricity".

Till the Stars Come Down is a headline attraction in HST Inc's 2026 Season marking an exciting new chapter for the much-loved South Australian theatre hub.

HST Inc's Chief Executive and Artistic Director Martha Lott said that Till the Stars Come Down, directed by Nick Fagan is a major coup for the season.

"From London to Holden Street, we are thrilled to open our 2026 in-house season with Nick Fagan as Director in Residence", Lott said.

"The production embodies everything that audiences love about Holden Street: bold storytelling, unflinching performances and theatre that moves you, and leaves a lasting impression".

Till the Stars Come Down is presented by HST Inc. by arrangement with ORiGiN Theatrical on behalf of Samuel French: A Concord Theatricals Company.
