Mixed Spice Presents its First Birthday Celebration and Fundraiser

The importance of community in a city as small and diverse as Adelaide is seen by some as an opportunity. As a result of a strong desire to bring this community together through art and inclusive creative practises, Mixed Spice Creative Studios has grown from a small idea into a big reality in only one year, and they would like to celebrate with the city of Adelaide this February.

On February 8, Coromandel Place will be transformed into an inner-city laneway dream. There will be live music, projection art, pop-up food and art stalls, bars and for the first time in two years Adelaide will welcome back The Art Battle Spectacular.

Adelaide's only Live Art Painting Competition, this will be the fifth instalment of the Art Battle Spectacular, last staged in 2016. The competition will feature eight artists from the Adelaide community, painting live on stage in 45-minute timed rounds to the theme of "Birthday". At the end of each round, the audience will choose the winner to proceed to the next round. To win the grand prize one artist will have to survive all four rounds, making this an art competition not only based on speed, but also stamina - a pleasure to watch! With the addition of live music, local arts market, art exhibition, projection artists, and pop-up bars, this will be an extraordinary evening of Adelaide based arts!
